National Medicare physician rate (2026)
What the whole procedure costs
The rate above is the physician’s fee on its own. The facility bills separately, and for most procedures the facility is the larger half of the bill. These are 2026 national Medicare amounts.
This is Medicare's separate payment to the facility on top of the physician's fee. Medicare allowed amounts are not what an uninsured patient is charged, and not a quote. Private plans typically allow more.

CMS adjusts this CPT by locality. A five-digit ZIP is enough — no account, no insurance card.
What stress echocardiogram costs at hospitals near you
Everything above is a national average. The hospital you pick in your area moves the bill more than anything else you control.

What these numbers are
Every figure on this page is a 2026 Medicare allowed amount: the physician line comes from the Physician Fee Schedule adjusted by geographic practice-cost indices, and the facility totals come from the CMS hospital outpatient (OPPS) and ambulatory surgery centre rates. None of them is a hospital chargemaster price, your insurer's contracted rate, or a quote. Anesthesia, pathology, imaging reads and follow-up care are billed under their own codes when they apply, and an inpatient stay is paid a different way again.
How CMS prices CPT 93350
Work is about 26% of the office total RVU; practice expense is about 73%. Localities with a high PE GPCI move this code more when practice expense is a large share.
Office vs hospital for this code
Office (non-facility) physician rate: $185.37. Hospital (facility) physician rate: $185.37.
Medicare patients typically owe 20% of the allowed amount after the Part B deductible — about $37 for the office physician fee, before any Medigap coverage. That coinsurance does not include a hospital facility fee.
Labeled private-plan and cash ranges on this page are arithmetic multiples of Medicare, not negotiated quotes. Ask the billing office for the CPT code, the site of service, and a good-faith estimate.
What Is Stress Echocardiogram?
A stress echocardiogram combines a heart ultrasound with exercise: images are taken at rest, you walk or run on a treadmill to a target heart rate, then images are rapidly repeated to see whether any heart wall moves poorly under stress, a sign of blocked arteries. It answers many of the same questions as a nuclear stress test without radiation. Plan on about an hour, wear exercise clothes, and expect to be pushed close to your maximum effort.
What Affects the Cost
- –The complete service stacks several billed parts: the imaging, the treadmill stress supervision, and the physician interpretations.
- –Patients who cannot exercise need a dobutamine infusion instead, adding drug and administration charges.
- –Office-based cardiology labs undercut hospital outpatient pricing for the identical test.
- –It is generally cheaper than a nuclear stress test because there is no radioactive tracer, an argument for it when either test would do.
- –Inconclusive results can cascade to nuclear imaging, CT angiography, or catheterization, each a fresh cost tier.
How It Is Billed
CPT 93350 covers the echocardiographic imaging during stress; the exercise stress test itself, physician supervision, ECG monitoring, and interpretation bill under companion cardiology stress codes on the same claim, and a combined code (93351) exists when one physician provides everything. Dobutamine, when used, appears as separate drug and infusion lines. A facility fee applies in hospital settings on top of all professional charges.
Insurance & Coverage Notes
Prior authorization is commonly required by commercial insurers, though stress echo often clears review more easily than nuclear imaging because it is the cheaper of the two functional tests; some plans actively prefer it. Medicare covers it without authorization under Part B coinsurance. If you were scheduled for a nuclear stress test, it is fair to ask whether stress echo would answer the question at lower cost and without radiation; for many intermediate-risk patients it does.
Questions to Ask Before Booking
- 1.Is stress echo or a nuclear test better for my situation, and what does each cost me?
- 2.Has prior authorization been approved for this specific test?
- 3.Will I exercise, or will I need the dobutamine version, and what does the drug add?
- 4.Is this in an office lab or a hospital department, and what is the price at each?
- 5.If the result is unclear, what is the next test and its cost?

For CPT 93350 the office and hospital physician rates are essentially the same ($185.37). The hospital will still usually add a separate facility fee that this page does not show.

Not on its own. $185.37 is the physician allowed amount. Medicare also pays the facility, which takes the total to about $744 in a hospital outpatient department. Anesthesia, pathology and imaging interpretation billed under other codes are separate again. Private-plan allowed amounts are often higher than Medicare; your deductible and coinsurance still apply.
